About Gail

Earth beckons me constantly, and I have been inspired throughout my life by three compelling, intertwined loves: travel, writing, and photography.

I’ve been traveling since I was six months old, the first of four children born to my parents, John Bruce and Joan Garrett Blount. We moved every two or three years as my father was promoted through the ranks of the U.S. Army, eventually earning three stars as a Lieutenant General. For me, the wanderlust was seared into my DNA, and I have continued to travel regularly all my life.

I have been writing creatively since elementary school, beginning with poems, advancing to sonnets, and ultimately earning a comfortable living writing a wide array of material for corporations.  (No, I didn’t compromise any principles, I’ve just always been practical.)  I graduated from Barry University Magna cum Laude with a beloved BA in English Literature, and am sincerely grateful to my stellar professors who recognized me and encouraged me, including Ted Sealy, Charlie Cassini, Maria Riley, and Richard Mottram.

After college, I bought a camera and began taking photographs during my travels, which enabled me to apply a creative eye to the earth’s amazing places.  For many years I have written about my travels and illustrated them with photographs in annual travelogs to friends and family.

This website is a logical culmination of those forces, enabling me to marry my three lifelong loves into a single source of living art. It is not a casual indulgence, but a creative need and a keen desire to share these loves. I hope that you enjoy what you see, and that it inspires you to explore this stunning world of ours — whether by going places, or by reading about them, or by experiencing them through my eyes.
